ASH WEDNESDAY

FEBRUARY 26, 2020

Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent.

Ash Wednesday is a day of Feast and Abstinence from meat. On this day, Christians throughout the world pause to mark their foreheads with Ashes. It is an outward sign of their inner desire to reform their lives. The three hallmarks of Lent are Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving. As we begin this holy season of Lent, take a minutes to reflect on how you will incorporate these three practices into your daily Lenten journey.

*There will be collections at all masses.

“the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary commemorates

the death of Mary and her bodily assumption into Heaven,

before her body could begin to decay—a foretaste of our own bodily resurrection at the end of time.

Because it signifies the Blessed Virgin’s passing into eternal life,

it is the most important of all Marian feasts as well as being a Holy Day of Obligation.”
